At the time of his death, he was the owner-operator of his own manu- facturing business, Gompf Brackets, Inc. During leisure hours, he enjoyed family time, museums, art galleries, playing solitaire, garden rail roading and travel. Survivors include his wife; son Loren Lee Gompf of Issaquah; daughter Laura Lynne Gompf of Seattle; brother Gary Gompf of Bartlesville, Okla.; and a sister, Donna Sather, of Libby. Arrangements are by Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home. Argales Peterson Longtime area resident Argales Arthur Larse Peterson, 79, died on May 24, 1998, in Renton. A funeral service was conducted on May 29 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Renton, with burial at Greenwood Memorial Park. He was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Kenmare, N.D. On March 15, 1941, he married Marion Putnam. The couple made their home in Skyway and Issaquah before moving to Renton in 1946. Mr. Peterson was employed by Safeway as a mechanic. He retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. During leisure hours, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing pinochle and cribbage, remodeling and woodworking, and helping others. Survivors include his wife; son Gary Peterson of Lynnwood; daughters Janet Quande of Skyway and Arleen Lowder of Cusick; brother Chalmer Peterson; five grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements are by Greenwood Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Norman Rider Former Issaquah resident Norman J. Rider, 79, died on May 28,1998, at Virginia Mason §\ ’ Medical Center in Seattle. Graveside services were con- ducted on May 30 at Hillside Cemetery. He was born on Aug. 19, 1918, in Issaquah. He was raised in Issaquah and Seattle, graduating from Franklin High School. On Aug. 27, 1938, he married Mary Boni in Renton. Mr. Rider served with the US Navy during World War II on the battleship “New Mexico.” He was employed for many years as service manager for Sparling Cadillac in Seattle. Mr. Rider was a member of Albert Larsen Post No. 3436 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During leisure hours, he enjoyed gardening, camping, bird hunting and working on automo- biles. I Survivors include his wife; daughter Carol Banks of Gresham, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home. Antoinette San Martin Issaquah resident Antoinette San Martin, 78, died on May 26, 1998, at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue. At her request, no services will be conducted. She was born on April 27, 1919, in Boston, the daughter of Vincenzo and Giuseppina Sciolino. She was raised and educated in Boston. On May 17, 1943, she married Jimmy San Martin in New York. The ecuple moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1944. Mrs. San Martin was a home- maker. She moved to Issaquah in 1994. During leisure hours, she enjoyed cooking and family out— ings. Survivors include sons Jimmy San Martin Jr. of Tampa, John San Martin and Louis San Martin; daughter Antoinette Lee of Issaquah; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to donor’s choice. Arrangements are by Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home. Elizabeth Wise Issaquah resident Elizabeth Wise, 82, died on May 6, 1998, at Kelsey Creek Hospice. A her request, no services were conducted. She was born on Jan. 30, 1916, in Seattle, to Carl and Magdalene Anderson. She was educated in Seattle. Mrs. Wise was one of the first tenants of the Eastridge Apartments, where she often assumed managerial duties. She was an active 18—year vol- unteer at the Issaquah Valley Senior Center, where she served several terms on the Board of Directors, as Bingo manager, Meals-on—Wheels coordinator and nutrition volunteer. Mrs. Wise was named Senior of the Year in 1986. During leisure hours, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and helping others. Survivors include a brother, William Anderson and his wife, Lillian; nephew William Anderson, Jr.; and niece Terrie Rivas. She was preceded in death by sons Claude Wise and Frederick Wise.
